Unibet’s sportsbook has taken shape and really improved over the last year. They have some nice marketing modules on the home page and a traditional pop-up live betting console. The home page has a great little winners promotion.
The live betting application uses a two column layout for markets and is visually very strong. The overall sportsbook design is bright and modern – almost too bright! It’s a good effort all round and I’m sure there is more to come.

Paddy Power have launched a few mini-games around their live betting site. There are three games, Roulette, Blackjack and Chain Reactors. The games are displayed at a very small size but are still playable. The games menu takes up an equal amount of space. It doesn’t look like the module would be reusable on the rest of the site but it would be relatively little effort to create a new instance with different dimensions.
The overall feel of the live betting pages is still unusual and as a result, not quite comfortable but it’ll be interesting to watch it develop.

Ladbrokes are betting in running on horses now. Well, up to a point. They seem to be holding the starting prices for as long as they can, making a few changes and suspending selections one at a time. You can see it all in action through their live betting application that I developed during my time at endemol gaming. Click on the bet in play logo on the left. It’s a few years old now but carries on doing the job.

It looks like William Hill are ready to go with the new sportsbook. I’ve just seen the placeholder page go up. I love that it places live betting at the heart of a very well designed website. The overall design should make some other sportsbooks stop for a minute and ask themselves why they can’t execute something as simple but effective.
Live betting is really brought to the fore with dynamic content throughout the site.
Betting just got more interesting – it’s a foundation but look out for some innovations scattered throughout including one of my favourites, grouped markets.

I spotted this announcement on paddy power’s blog about a new live betting design – the screen shot is a bit unclear but it looks fairly traditional. The ability to select your markets for display is good but doesn’t go as far as Sportingbet’s favourites functionality (designed and built by my own company). But it is a nice touch. I would have thought a clearer schedule of current live games would provide a bit of uplift as punters get exposed to more events but that might be in there somewhere. Let’s see…
